HISTORY

Visions For Youth Inc (VFY) is a non-profit 501c3 youth and young adult mentoring organization serving California since 1993 and is a registered member of the California Mentoring Initiative.

 VISION                  

VFY’s
new five year focus starting in 2008 is to address medical mentoring and illness recovery for youth and young adults who are facing medical challenges and hardships.

 Mission Statement   

Provide positive emotional, spiritual and financial
support to those in a life
threatening physical condition.

 TASKS: 

1.           VFY’s program serves Northern California communities.

2.           vfy serves in offering medical mentoring from survivors of breast cancer, cancer of the prostate, leukemia, melanoma, and brain tumors to children and young adults between the ages of four and thirty-nine.

3.           VFY addresses breast cancer awareness in teenage girls and young women between the ages of 13 to 39.

4.           VFY supports teens and young women by finding resources for mammograms and/or with financial assistance.

5.           vfy offers emergency grants to help approved parents who are in need of temporary day care for children under the age of fourteen. (VFY does not place children in day care, but provides financial assistance grants or sponsorship).

6.           VFY provides financial sources for medicine and treatment.

7.           vfy provides links and resources to applicants.   

8.           vfy refers agencies for counseling or from volunteers, or medical treatment counselors.

9.    vfy networks with survivor volunteer support to sufferers.

10.      vfy is a support organization linking to other support sources and resources.

11.      vfy seeks private, corporate, and government support.

12.      vfy works in support with medical universities and research centers.

13.      vfy works with religious organizations to help in spiritual mentoring.

14.      vfy seeks bilingual volunteers and organizations.

15.  VFY supports itself by tax deductible donations.
