Dear Friends in the Community,

Each year Visions for Youth (VFY) continues to advance. For the past 14 years VFY has mentored youth in our community, providing them with guidance, leadership, social counseling, mentoring and so much more. We focused on keeping the youth on track with their education, taught them how to deal with peer pressure, and the trials and tribulations that teens face in their everyday lives. Through our programs we have seen many lives changed for the better.

Visions for Youth Goals
VFY’s new five year focus is to offer medical mentoring and illness recovery for youth and young adults who are facing medical challenges such as various cancers, leukemia, melanoma, brain tumors and breast cancer.  VFY’s objective is to offer positive emotional, financial, and spiritual support.

What VFY will Provide
VFY will be providing young people with medical resources, for medical grants, childcare grants, professional counseling resources, financial aid for necessary prescriptions, financial assistance  for deductible co-payments, and the necessities during a medical crisis.

Many families have a relative such as a mother, father, son or daughter who have life threatening illness experience which cause tremendous hardship, emotionally and financially. Anytime someone is undergoing a medical crisis it also accompanied with financial predicament to meet co-payments and deductible, as insurance companies do not always cover all procedures. An enormous percentage of the family’s income goes towards the medical treatment.

Families are not at risk of losing a loved one, but also at risk of losing their homes, cars, and financial stability. As the Executive Director for Visions for Youth, a young mother of 25, I am experiencing this burden and continue to fight to be a, "Breast Cancer Survivor".

Tiss the Season
This holiday season hundreds of these families going through a medical crisis will go without much of a Christmas. The children may not have a Christmas tree, traditional holiday dinner, or minimal if at all any gifts.

How horrible would it be if a child that believes in Santa Clause woke up on Christmas morning without a gift? These families deserve a Christmas, and fortunately VFY is here to help.

  How to Help
Funds are an essential key to provide a Christmas for these families. With your financial support,  you can make a family have a Christmas they would not have normally have.

We are asking your company to sponsor a family this year by giving a tax-deductible donation. Below is a chart that shows various donation amounts and what your donation will provide for that family. You can choose the size of family you are able to sponsor.

Many companies have matching fund programs which you may not be aware of. If you are able to donate privately, please inquire through your employer for matching funds.

Your donations will provide a Christmas for a family and will bring a smile of joy to so many faces.

Christmas is almost here, so if is at all possible; please return your donation by December 22nd, 2007.

We will continue to accept donations after that date and the donations accepted after Christmas will be utilized to provide grants for the medical needs to our grant recipients.

Visions for Youth could not do it without the generosity of donors like you.

If you are sending your donation in the form of a check, please make it payable to Visions for Youth Inc or VFY.

We want to thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to whatever support you can provide.

Sincerely,

Shannon Marie Sackett
Executive Director
Visions for Youth Inc.
